5 Bestselling Books to Read this Summer

As the heat sets in, the perfect place to read your favorite book is on the beach this summer. It’s time to kick your heels up on a beach chair, grab a glass of lemonade or your favorite beer and get your hands on a good new read. Having done this ourselves, we feel confident in giving you our summer reading list, containing the best books to read this summer.

Finders Keepers  By: Stephen King

We are starting the list off with a thriller from the master of literary horror, Stephen King. Finders Keepers is the perfect way to add a little suspense to your otherwise relaxed summer days. The story focuses around a reader whose obsession with a recluse writer goes too far. After selling out from writing more novels, author John Rothstein finds himself at odds with his biggest fan, a man by the name of Morris Bellamy. We won’t give away the story, but let’s just say Morris takes matters into his own hands and gives the author a bit more than a piece of his mind.

The Martian By: Andy Weir

the martian

Need a little sci-fi in your life? Look no further than this inventive novel by up and coming author Andy Weir. This debut novel for the author, soon to be made into a motion picture starring Matt Damon, offers a look at the incredible story of the first astronaut to walk on Mars and his fight for survival. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to abandon him, Mark Watney finds himself alone on the alien planet, with no way home and no way to contact Earth. Despite his slim odds for survival, Mark refuses to give up, using his ingenuity and engineering skills to adapt and survive alone in space.

The Rosie Project By: Graeme Simsion

the rosie project

If you haven’t already read Graeme Simision’s internationally bestselling romantic comedy, now is the time. This novel, described as “bursting with warmth, emotional depth, and humor” (Entertainment Weekly) is the perfect feel-good novel for your day off. Simision’s debut novel features the charming and quirky genetics professor, Don Tillman, and his search for his perfect wife. His very predictable and micromanaged life is thrown into chaos when an unexpected and adorably disorganized love, Rosie, enters his life. This novel is sure to put a smile on your face and fill you with even more warmth on these warm summer days.

The Girl on the Train By: Paula Hawkins

the girl on the train

This instant #1 New York Times bestseller will sweep you up and won’t let you go. This debut psychological thriller promises to change the way you look at other people’s lives. This Hitchcockian thriller follows the story of Rachel, an average girl who takes the same commuter train every morning. On her daily travels, she watches the same couple out the window of the train car. Their life seems perfect, until one day when she sees something shocking (we won’t give it away for you). Feeling compelled to tell the police what she saw, Rachel is dragged into a whirlwind, entangling her in the lives of everyone involved. Promising the same thrills and chills as Gone Girl, be sure to pick up this novel for your next beach day.

The Rocks By: Peter Nichols

the-rocks

Oprah herself deemed this novel, “The perfect book for pretending it’s already beach season.” Seeing as it is beach season, this was one of the first books we grabbed. Set in the light and bright Mediterranean, The Rocks follows the story of a honeymoon couple torn apart by a mysterious event. Never speaking again, but living on the same island for more than sixty years, figuring out the event that separated these lovers will have you reading until the very end.
